Abstract
Over the past two decades the dynamic regeneration of Budapest's Ferencváros district has often raised the question of how to redevelop historical buildings. This example explores the idea of preserving the original facade and placing a new, almost opposing, architectural form within and above. Combination of styles and technologies informs a more adventurous form of development than the usual historicism approach, yet the original character is not lost to prosperity.
