Abstract

A Magyar Szocialista Munkáspárt az 1960-as évektől pénzt és energiát nem kímélve kiépítette saját idősgondozási intézményrendszerét, amelyet kiemelt szociális otthonok és nyugdíjasházak tucatjai alkottak. A szociális otthonok világán belül a Rózsa Ferenc és a Március 21. Szociális Otthonok képviselték az ellátás legmagasabb szintjét. A két otthon összevonásával jött létre a budapesti Rózsa Ferenc Veterán Otthon, amelynek közel két évtizedes története hűen tükrözi a kiváltságos idősekkel foglakozó „szociálpolitika” korabeli jellemzőit. From the 1960s, the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party spared no expense and energy in building up its own system of elderly care institutions, which consisted of dozens of high-profile social homes and pension houses. Within the world of social homes, the Ferenc Rózsa and March 21 Social Homes represented the highest level of care. The merger of the two homes created the Ferenc Rózsa Veterans Home (Budapest), whose nearly two-decade history reflects the 'social policy' of the time for the privileged elderly.
