Abstract
In Hungary, it made nationwide news on the 14 October 2017 that the Hungarian PrisonService Headquarters decided to discontinue all kinds of cooperation and terminated the con-tracts with immediate effect with both the Helsinki Committee and the instead of Give Voicethe official name of the Association is Speak Out (‘Adj Hangot’) Association – the legal entityoperating prison radios in Hungary – in all three prisons1running this kind of media. Theessay aims to sumup the history of prison radios in the UK and in Hungary with specialatten tion to the role they may play in the inmates’ resociali zation process.
