Abstract
The article deals with the excavated medieval burials at the Benedictine monastery of Kaposszentjakab, formerly known as Zselicszentjakab. Previously to the foundation of the monastery in 1061, as early as in the 9 Century a church and a burial ground were located on the territory. After the foundation of the monastery the monks were buried here as well as some of the laity. The paper presents the various burial customs, the finds from the graves and attempts to define that in the different burial sites who and when were buried.
