Abstract
In this agricultural history study, cattle-breeding of village of Fonó (Somogy county, Kapos Valley) is reviewed from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. The aim of the study is to scientifically analyze the development of cattle-breeding and to present its impact on the local communities. The documents found in the Archives of Somogy County, certificates. I collected these authentic documents during the 19th and the 20th century, the cattle-breeding of Fonó was among the first in Hungary. The reason for this was that the farmers in Fonó responded to the increase in milk consumption due to industrialization and started to change breeds in time, thus importing and breeding the Swiss Simmental breed.
