Abstract

Flóris több mint 40 éves szakmai munkáját és vele párhuzamosan életének fordulópontjait mutatja be, sok levéltári dokumentum felhasználásával. A gimnáziumi érettségit követően Pál Flóris jogi tanulmányokat folytatott, és részt vett a boszniai okkupációban. A hivatal vezetőinek bizalmát kiérdemelve hosszú éveken keresztül irodaigazgatói beosztásban, a kezelési, gazdasági és pénzügyi terület gondos és pontos szervezésével és vezetésével segítette a KSH statisztikai tevékenységének zavartalan fejlődését. Részt vett több országos népszámlálás lebonyolításában és kiértékelésében, valamint néhány hivatali vezetője több publikációjának szerkesztésében. Legfontosabb munkája 1886–1918 között a tiszti cím- és névtár évenként megjelenő, összesen 33 kötetének szerkesztése volt. Pályafutása során a számtiszti, a főtiszti, a tanácsosi és a főtanácsosi kinevezések után már nyugdíjba vonult, amikor kormányfőtanácsossá nevezték ki. Élete során hat kitüntetést érdemelt ki közéleti és szakmai munkájáért. | This essay presents Flóris Pál’s more than 40-year-long professional career parallel with the turningpoints of his life using many contemporary documents of archives. After maturity he studied law and fought in the occupation of Bosnia. Also during this period he worked at the National Royal Statistical Office as a daily paid junior clerk. Owing to his efforts, from this position he became the head clerk in the area of economy, finance and management. He helped the undisturbed improvement of the statistical work with careful and precise organization of this area. He took part in managing and evaluating of data of two population census. He also edited his managing officers’ writings. His most important work was editing the 33 volumes of address and name directory of officials published yearly between 1886–1918. During his career he was appointed to auditor, senior clerk, counsellor, chief counsellor and premier counsellor. He got six decorations for professional work and his role in the life of the community.
