Abstract
Baron József Lilien managed the estate of his father-in-law, Péter Szapáry in the 1790s. The manor was one of the largest estates in Fejér County, and its geographical characteristics and location made it an excellent area for arable farming. The aim of this study is to provide additional information on the economic activities of József Lilien, in addition to the well known facts concerning the manor of Ercsi, which are frequently found in the literature, tis paper intentd to give more insight about the restructuring of the large estate, the integration of the wastelands connected to the estate, crop and livestock farming, and labour.
