Abstract

Ez a többszerzős tanulmánykötet nem egyszerűen a felsőbüki Nagy család története, hanem Magyarország hosszú 18. századi története néhány kardinális fontosságú aspektusának beható vizsgálata révén, egyetlen család néhány kiemelkedő tagjának életpályájához kapcsolódóan. A kötet tanulmányai szélesebb körre kiterjedő vizsgálatok elvégzésével és a kínálkozó párhuzamok kiaknázásával jutnak el a családtörténetinél egy szinttel magasabb következtetésekig. A 17. századi előzményektől a 19. század eleji csúcspontig kísérik figyelemmel a hivatalviselő elit működését a felsőbüki Nagy család történetének egyes mozzanatait a középpontba állítva. Ezen család kiemelkedő közéleti szerepet játszó tagjainak élete ürügyeként szolgál az általánosabb vizsgálatoknak, és elvezet az ezekre épülő következtetésekig, illetve éppen ezen pályafutások beható elemzéséből bontakozik ki az általánosabb érvényű, Magyarország 18. századi történetére vonatkozó hipotézis. = This multi-authored volume is not simply the history of the Felsőbüki Nagy family but the history of Hungary in the 18th and early 19th centuries through analyzing in depth a few cardinal aspects, related to the careers of some outstanding members of a single family. Studies in this volume embark on wider investigations and profit from obvious parallels to reach conclusions on a level higher than that of family history. They observe the office-holding elite from the beginnings in the 17th century to the high point in the early 19th focussing on certain moments in the history of the Felsőbüki Nagy family. The life of some eminent public personalities in this family either serve as pretext for more general investigations and leads to general conclusions built upon these or a scrutiny of these careers gives rise to a general hypothesis about the history of Hungary in the 18th century.
