Abstract
This study analyses the adaptations (or adaptation-like processes) in Batman-related comic book series. Over the past century, numerous adaptations of superhero adventures have been produced (based on well-known novels or short stories), but not many have become part of the canonical story line due to their adaptive nature. However, some adaptations have not conflicted with the canon. The study focuses on these cases. Special attention is given to the case of a comic based on an unrealized movie, and the travelling illustrations that were a gesture of homage. These illustrations also extend the intermediate playing field.
