Abstract

Európában a 20. század első felében háborús légkör és forrongó politikai helyzet uralkodott, ami hatással volt az élet minden területére. A korszakra jellemző volt a világítás tökéletesedése, elő-térbe kerültek a fény pozitív hatásai és annak biztonsági kérdései. A védekezésképpen alkalmazott elsötétítés és a munkavégzéshez szükséges fény összeegyeztetése nemcsak világítástechnikai, hanem hadtudományi, hadmérnöki kihívást is jelentett. Kialakult az ágazat intézményi és műszaki keretrendszere, aminek köszönhetően itthon is meghonosodott a világítástechnika tudománya. Elismerően írt a magyar szakemberekről a nemzetközi sajtó. A „totális háborúval” járó elsötétítés azonban merőben új helyzetet teremtett. A légvédelem szolgálatába állították a világítástechnikát, és ezzel új fejezet nyílt a világítás történetében. A cikksorozatnak ebben a részében a módszereket és a munkahelyi előírásokat, eljárásokat járom körbe, közben utalást teszek a hazai világítástech-nika fejlettségére, viszontagságaira, és arra, hogyan adaptálták mindezt az új követelményekhez, amivel az elsötétítés idehaza külön tudományággá válhatott. | Europe in the first half of the 20th century was characterised by a seething political situation and an atmosphere of war that affected every aspect of life. The period was marked by advances in lighting technology that brought significant benefits in terms of the positive effects of lighting, and its safety issues came to the fore. The balance between blackout and proper lighting for work was a major challenge not only for lighting technology, but also for military science and military engineering. An institutional and technical framework for the sector was established, which faci-litated the development of the science of lighting technology in this country. The international press has lauded Hungarian lighting experts for their contributions to the field. However, the blackout that accompanied the advent of “total war” necessitated a radical shift in approach. Lighting technology was repurposed to serve the needs of air defence and a new chapter was born in the history of lighting. This article of the series examines the methods, workplace regulations and procedures used in this endeavour, as well as the development and challenges of lighting technology in Hungary and its adaptation to the demands of the new circumstances that led to the emergence of blackout as a separate discipline in the country.
