Abstract

A tanulmány a magyar felsőoktatás helyzetét tekinti át, megvizsgálva azokat a tényezőket, amelyeket Jamil Salmi a Világbank számára készített elemzésében (Salmi, 2009) a világhírnév elérésének összetevőiként azonosított. Nevezetesen az erőforrás-gazdagságot, a tehetségek magas koncentrációját és a kedvező intézményi vezetést. Ehhez kapcsolódóan a tanulmány ismerteti a magyar felsőoktatás erőforrásellátottságát, a beiskolázási trendeket, a nemzetközivé válást, valamint a magyar felsőoktatás irányításának és tulajdonosi hátterének változásait és a kapcsolódó intézményi menedzsmentet. A tanulmány azzal zárul, hogy az illiberális felsőoktatási politika következményeként Magyarország elvesztette azt a hajtóerőt, amelyet a felsőoktatás jelent a társadalmi és gazdasági fejlődés szempontjából. | This paper reviews the state of higher education in Hungary by examining the factors identified by Jamil Salmi in an analysis for the World Bank (Salmi, 2009) as components of achieving world fame. Namely, resource wealth, high concentration of talent and favourable institutional leadership. Related to this, the paper describes the resource endowment of Hungarian higher education, its enrolment trends, its internationalisation, and changes in the governance and ownership of Hungarian higher education and related institutional management. It concludes by stating that, as a result of illiberal higher education policies, Hungary has lost the driving force that higher education represents for social and economic development.
