Abstract

In April 2020, the government of Hungary adopted a new security strategy, which took effect on the 22nd of April 2020. This strategy reflects on current security challenges, risks and threats arising in widen geopolitical area of Hungary and neighbouring countries. It identifies security factors threatening Hungarian politics, economy, military, energy area and culture. The aim of this article is to familiarize wide professional public with the new security strategy of Hungary and partially clarification of defined factors affecting security environment of Hungary. The conclusion of this article outlines the main streams of Hungarian measures, which intend to eliminate security challenges, risks and threats against Hungary itself and as a member of EU and NATO. The author is focusing on military-political and geostrategic aspects of the new Hungarian national security strategy.
