Abstract

Sports tourism is not a new phenomenon, and is surveyed widely in national and international publications, as well. This research focuses on different relations of this tourism branch and tries to create a disciplinary model that links the analysis of competitiveness and the changes in sports tourism. In addition to the definitional background, the analysis of the literature base relies on the experienced trends also by scientific investigations and university education. The methodology of the research is based on secondary literature analysis, that gave us a comprehensive overlook of the current opportunities, too. The result will be the creation of a new model that integrates the links between competitiveness and sports tourism, supporting the maintenance and development of this special tourism sector. The model hopefully enables tourism operators to react more effectively to the needs of demand, using the renewed and expanded set of services involving a wider range of service providers.
