Abstract
ARCHITECT: WINY MAAS. Portlantis, a new exhibition centre in the Port of Rotterdam designed by MVRDV, serves as a "lighthouse" on the Maasvlakte 2. Drawing inspiration from the port's vast industrial landscape of containers, the building features stacked 27x27 meter square floors, each rotated to offer panoramic views aligned with specific themes: current operations, historical impact, and future developments. This design, reminiscent of MVRDV's earlier stacked concepts but here with rotating "exhibition-boxes," houses a permanent exhibition by Kossmanndejong within a central decagonal atrium and offers publicly accessible external red staircases leading to a rooftop terrace.
