Abstract

In the cooperative process of meaning construction the addressee’s contribution is relevant, with an interpretative work that appears more evident when there is a gap between the “sentence meaning” and the “speaker meaning”, i.e. in the area of discourse implicits that derive from inferential processes, and which at least in some cases depend on the interaction between the linguistic forms used by the sender on the one hand and the encyclopedic knowledge and conceptual structures generally shared between the interlocutors on the other. In this contribution I intend to address with this perspective two relevant issues in the area of conditional constructions: the status of conditional perfection and that of counterfactuality, also trying to verify if and how the inferential processes involved (which in both cases deal with truth-functional aspects) can be identified with the particularized or generalized conversational implicatures of the Gricean tradition. | Nel processo cooperativo di costruzione del senso il contributo del destinatario risulta rilevante, con un lavoro interpretativo che appare più evidente quando c’è un divario tra il significato letterale dell’enunciato ed il senso presumibilmente inteso dal mittente, ovvero nell’area degli impliciti discorsivi che derivano da processi inferenziali, e che almeno in alcuni casi dipendono dall’interazione tra le forme linguistiche utilizzate dal mittente da una parte e le conoscenze enciclopediche e le strutture concettuali generalmente condivise fra gli interlocutori dall’altra. In questo contributo intendo affrontare con questa prospettiva due questioni rilevanti per l’area dei periodi ipotetici: lo statuto della bi-condizionalità e quello della controfattualità, cercando anche di verificare se e come i processi inferenziali coinvolti (che in entrambi i casi hanno a che fare con aspetti vero-funzionali) possano essere identificati con le implicature conversazionali particolarizzate o generalizzate di tradizione griceana.
