Abstract

A Pécs-Lapison nyilvántartott késő római kori őrtorony a Baranya vármegyei római kori villagazdaságok tájrégészeti kutatása kapcsán került homloktérbe, hiszen elhelyezkedése és a térség úthálózatában játszott szerepe jelentős lehetett, így támpontként szolgálhatott a mecseki átkelőhelyek, közlekedési folyosók vizsgálatában. Pontos lokalizálása ezen felül lehetőséget adott a térinformatikai alapokon nyugvó elemzésekre is, így a Sopianaeból kiinduló lehetséges útnyomvonalak vizsgálatára, és a Mecsek-hegység egykori tájhasználatára. | The late Roman watchtower found at Pécs-Lapis gained prominence in connection with the landscape archaeological research of Roman villa estates in Baranya County. Its location and potential role in the region’s road network may have been significant, thus serving as a reference point for examining Mecsek mountain passes and transportation corridors. Moreover, its precise localization provided an opportunity for analyses based on geographic information systems, including the study of potential routes originating from Sopianae and the former land use of the Mecsek Mountains.
