Abstract
A simplified calculation method was developed to evaluate experimental rolling processes in order to determine the characteristic parameters of velocity and deformation field of cold-rolled material. The calculation allows us to make an analysis of 3D material flow as well when a significant widening of material occurs during the forming process. Based on the measured data (rolling force and rolling torque) the coefficient of friction and the neutral angle for the deformation zone was determined. Using these parameters, the mechanical fields with a higher accuracy can be determined. Experimental rolling was analyzed by finite element calculation similarly. After comparing the two models, we found that the mechanical fields differ slightly. The simplified calculation procedure is also suitable for testing multi-pass rolling. The method also provides input data of the texture calculation (velocity gradient tensor of a selected material point) as a function of time that significantly expands the application possibilities.
