Abstract

Az iskola és építészet évek óta a BME Építőművészeti Doktori Iskola egyik kiemelt témája, kutatási területe. Itt szerzett tapasztalataink – köztük a piarista terekkel töltött egy év – birtokában jártuk végig a megújult épületet Cseh András és Köninger Szilárd építész tervezőkkel. | ARCHITECT: CAN ARCHITECTS The renovation of the Piarist Grammar School in Mosonmagyaróvár unites historical continuity with contemporary educational ideals. Led by Golda János and designed by CAN Architects through a participatory process, the transformation of a former archival building creates a modern learning environment that reflects 21st-century pedagogical values while honoring the Piarist Order’s communal ethos. Central to the design is a sculptural “learning stair” that merges circulation, gathering, and performance space into a cohesive spatial experience. Blending restored heritage with thoughtful modern interventions, the project synthesizes educational models from past eras into a flexible, open school environment. Despite its modest scale, it signals a broader shift in school design toward openness and civic integration, placing it among Hungary’s most significant recent educational architecture achievements.
