Abstract
The tuneable clamping table was designed to attenuate chatter vibrations in the finishing operations of thin walled machining. This is achieved by the tuning of the frequency and damping parameters of the table’s dominant mode. The frequency is actively tuned by a rotary spring, while the damping can be changed passively, using eddy current modules. This study aims to develop a compatible dummy workpiece for the table and experimentally validate the corresponding optimal tuning parameters both for general harmonic forcing and in the case of a milling operation.
