Abstract

The initial observation of fluoride's ability to decrease caries rates can be attributed to Antoine Malagou Desirabode in 1843. Subsequently, Frederick McKay, GV. Black, and Trendley H. Dean made substantial contributions to understanding its anticaries effects. The introduction of fluoridation into water, toothpaste, and other mediums marked one of the most impactful public health interventions, resulting in a significant reduction in caries rates.
