Abstract

Spin probe method characterizes internal architecture of graphene oxide membranes. Second order parameters of spin probes on th e graphene oxide layers are 0. 4 –0.6. • Layer ordering measured with spin probe affects graphene oxide membrane selectivity. • Lamellas package density significantly affects graphene oxide membrane selectivity. • Free-standing graphene oxide membranes swell in polar liquid vapor within 1 h.
