Abstract
Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) modulation, particularly the Offset Quadratic Amplitude Modulation-based (OQAM) variant, has emerged as a promising physical layer solution for future 6G wireless networks. However, FBMC-OQAM systems encounter challenges, notably the high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR), which can lead to performance degradation. In this paper, we explore applying Active Constellation Extension (ACE) technique with the innovative enlipping technique for mitigating PAPR in FBMC-OQAM systems. This method effectively expands the outer constellation points smartly to reduce the PAPR of the FBMC signal without compromising Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. We proposed an approach, including ACE with enlipping, to address PAPR issues and compared it to clipping. Further, we evaluated ACE with enlipping against the clipping ratio (CR) and the number of iterations. Through theoretical analysis and simulation results, we demonstrate the effectiveness of this technique in reducing PAPR, thereby improving the efficiency and performance of FBMC-OQAM systems without requiring additional side information transmission. © 2024 IEEE.
