Abstract

This study presents the cultural and theoretical consequences of galvanism, the significant scientific breakthrough of the 18th - 19th centuries, and it is concerning especially the questions of human perception and the unity of consciousness. It is presented briefly how the galvanism, and the scientific and esoterical notions (like mesmerism) inspired by it have influenced the political and ontological views about Humans as an abstract essence of man. There are discussed the relevant problems and questions about the executions by guillotine show the interrelations between this allegedly humanitarian type of capital punishment and the new ideas inspired by galvanism.
