Abstract
Efficient control of electric drives is the cornerstone of many industrial processes. However, standard optimal trajectories such as the maximum torque per ampere criterion used extensively for permanent magnet drives are only developed for the steady-state operation. In this paper we explore the application of a continuous control set model predictive control algorithm to extend this optimal operation for transient states as well. The developed control method is presented in a Hardware-in-the-Loop environment to validate the findings.
