Abstract
The article is based on the historic evidences of how caste based recruitment initiated in Indian armed forces. However the system of such recruitment is no more in practice but the units already raised on the based of castes are still functioning in the same manner in the Indian armed forces. The paper will further elaborate on the idea of why Martial races were the base for recruitment in India, how cultures and religion has played along.
