Abstract

Two nanocolloids with different titanium contents were prepared by magnetron sputtering onto the ionic liquid [BMIM][PF₆]. Their magnetic properties were measured using a SQUID magnetometer, and their structure was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The magnetic behavior at 300 K is dominated by a paramagnetic contribution. In the low-field magnetic susceptibility measurements, a temperatureindependent contribution was observed in both nanocolloids above ~100 K. TEM analysis revealed that increasing the titanium content results in a morphological change of the titanium particles from small nanoparticles to larger, rectangular-faceted aggregates.
