Abstract

The present work is devoted to the combined microwave and convective drying behavior of carpets. The mathematical relations developed may be used to describe the moisture sorption mechanisms of carpets. The effects of important parameters during the drying process are discussed and the mathematical relations are formulated to illustrate the range of their applications. According to the results presented in this work, it is shown that combined microwave and convective drying can provide higher drying rates and, consequently, faster drying times.
