Abstract
Out of the 3 Amaranthus spp. unknown in the literature of plant virology the perennial A. bouchonii reacted with necrotic local lesions and systemic mosaic, while A. mitchellii and A. quitensis with local chlorotic spots and leaf drop to the Hungarian DH isolate of beet necrotic yellow vein Furovirus (BNYVV). From among the 10 plant species belonging to the family Chenopodiaceae the Axyris, Acroglochin, Chenopodium, Ragodia species reacted with chlorotic, necrotic local lesions, while the Spinacia turkestanica with local and systemic symptoms. Mercuriales annua (Euphorbiaceae) is no host for the virus. Nicotiana benthamiana (Solanaceae) is a new systemic, propagative host for BNYVV.
