Abstract
ARCHITECTS: ISTVÁN BARTÓK DLA, PÉTER FEJÉRDY DLA The 2022 renovation of a Hungarian school complex, last phase of a 15-year plan, exemplifies a design philosophy of rationality and restraint. The core work involved covering a courtyard to create a naturally lit central Aula with a sculptural staircase, a "learning landscape." A seamless new wing, maintaining the rhythm of the Neo-Baroque structure, added specialized classrooms and a unique, wood-clad library. The project's strength lies in its moderation, using clean forms and honest materials to meet 21st-century educational needs while subtly weaving contemporary layers into the historic fabric.
