Abstract

Improving building energy efficiency is crucial for advancing low-carbon community development. This study evaluates the impact of green roofs on the energy demand of different residential building types across three different climate zones. The findings reveal that building type significantly influences cooling and heating energy demand, with single-family house requiring more energy than multi-family house. Additionally, green roofs effectively enhance energy efficiency, reducing Energy Use Intensity as well as cooling and heating energy demand in both building types across hot summer Mediterranean climate, humid subtropical climate, and warm summer humid continental climate.
