Abstract

A tanulmány a Challenger űrsikló indítása előtti estén lezajlott rendkívüli döntéshozatali helyzetet tárgyalja. Az űrsikló katasztrófájához vezető döntéshozatal hibásnak minősítése a balesetet kivizsgáló bizottság jelentése, az ún. Rogers Report publikálása óta elfogadott. A cikk a döntéshozatali hibákkal kapcsolatban eddig nem tárgyalt jelenséget, jelesül a beszállítói cég, Morton Thiokol Inc. mérnökei részéről a megbeszélés során reflektálatlanul hagyott álláspontváltás összefüggésrendszerét tárgyalja. Megmutatom, hogy ennek az álláspontváltásnak adott körülmények között meg kellett történnie, és konstruktív javaslatokat fogalmazok meg, hogyan lehetett volna hatékonyabban képviselni az indítás elhalasztását. | The paper discusses the extraordinary decision-making situation that took place on the eve of the launch of the space shuttle Challenger. The classification of the decision-making that led to the shuttle disaster as flawed has been accepted since the publication of the Rogers Report, the report of the Commission of Inquiry into the accident. The article discusses a phenomenon that has not yet been discussed in relation to decision-making failures, namely the context of the unreflected change of position by the engineers of the supplier company, Morton Thiokol Inc. I will show that this change of position had to take place under the circumstances and make constructive suggestions as to how the postponement of the launch could have been more effectively advocated.
