Abstract
The aim of this work is to observe how contact pressure p and sliding speed v affect the thermal response of additively manufactured polymer specimens in a Pin-on-Disk setup. Cylindrical PLA, PETG, and ABS pins (h= 6 mm, d=5-10 mm) were tested against a polymer disk at a track radius R=25 mm. For each test, the pin and the disk were made from the same material. Surface temperature was recorded during 6-minute dry runs. In the present series, the maximum temperatures mostly remained below 50 °C. Therefore a p*v chart cannot be established. The preliminary observation is consistent with expectations: increasing normal load and rotational frequency leads to a higher temperature rise. Future measurements will extend the parameter range (smaller pin diameters, higher frequency) to reach the threshold region and enable construction of the chart. Determining these limits is necessary to define safe operating conditions for additively manufactured polymer components.
