Abstract
Today, numerous solutions are used by mobile robots for indoor and storage navigation and localization. This paper focuses on the advantages and limitations of ultrasonic navigation, and explores its potential in collaborative environments. It presents cost-efficient and straightforward microcontroller based localization system that still achieves smooth real-time, high-precision positioning using ultrasonic technology with the help of fixed base stations and a control module mounted on a mobile robot. In addition to its practical utility, the system is designed with educational purposes in mind, offering a valuable platform for teaching electronics design and embedded systems programming.
