Abstract

A kötet a magyar néprajz történetét a múzeum és a múzeumi gyűjtés szemszögéből tárgyalja. Bemutatatja azokat a törekvéseket, amelyek feredményeként Magyarországon is létrejött a néprajzi múzeum intézménytípusa. Az intézményesülés szakszerűsödést jelent, különböző irányokból érkező szakemberek munkáját, tudományos elképzeléseit és egymás közötti vitáit, egyéni ambícióit foglalja magában. A tanulmányok első csoportja eszmetörténeti keretben tárgyalja a néprajz és a múzeum kölcsönös viszonyát. Az elemzések második csoportja a múzeumi gyakorlat és a módszertan kérdéseit taglalja. Egy-egy szakember munkássága alapján a kutatás és a múzeumi eljárások olyan központi kérdéseit vizsgálja, mint a korai állomásozó „terepmunka”, a vizuális képalkotás és dokumentáció, a kérdőíves adatfeltárás, a néprajzi tárgyfogalom alakulása, a korai kiállítási, reprezentációs eljárások, valamint a terepkutatás morális kérdései. | The volume discusses the history of Hungarian ethnography from the perspective of museums and museum collections. It presents the efforts that led to the establishment of the type of institution known as the ethnographic museum in Hungary. Institutionalization means professionalization, encompassing the work of experts from different fields, their scientific ideas and debates, and their individual ambitions. The first group of studies discusses the relationship between ethnography and museums within the history of ideas. The second group of analyses discusses issues of museum practice and methodology. Drawing on the work of individual experts, these analyses examine key issues in research and museum procedures, including early 'fieldwork', visual imaging and documentation, questionnaire-based data collection. The development of the idea of ethnographic objects, early exhibition and representation procedures, and the moral issues of field research are also examined.
