Abstract

Az 1974. április 25-én kirobbant szegfűs forradalom Portugáliában egy diktatúra végét és egy demokratikus átmenet kezdetét jelentette. A szomszédos Spanyolországban, Francisco Franco tábornok diktatúrájában aggódva figyelték az eseményeket, attól tartva, hogy a spanyol társadalom és az ellenzék számára ösztönzőleg hatnak a portugál történések. A tanulmány célja a spanyol reakciók vizsgálata: a spanyol politikai és társadalmi háttér bemutatása után ismertetem, hogy Franco tábornok kormánya és a korabeli spanyol sajtó milyen álláspontra helyezkedett a szegfűs forradalom kapcsán, és hogy mindennek milyen hatásai lehettek az 1975 telén elkezdődő spanyol demokratikus átmenetre. | The Carnation Revolution in Portugal on 25 April 1974 marked the end of a dictatorship and the beginning of a democratic transition. In neighbouring Spain, under the dictatorship of General Francisco Franco, the events were watched with concern, fearing that Spanish society and the opposition would be inspired by what was happening in Portugal. The aim of this paper is to examine the Spanish reactions: after presenting the Spanish political and social context, I will describe the position of General Franco’s government and the contemporary Spanish press on the Carnation Revolution, and the impact all this may have had on the Spanish democratic transition that began in the winter of 1975.
