Abstract
DUTCH PAVILION, OSAKA EXPO, JAPAN ARCHITECTS: RAU Architects The Netherlands Pavilion at Osaka Expo 2025, designed by RAU Architects, embodies the theme “Shared Ground” and highlights cross-cultural collaboration, circular economy, and sustainability. Its wave-like façade evokes water, while a central sphere called the “Sun” symbolizes shared resources. The pavilion’s steel structure subtly references 425 years of Dutch-Japanese relations and is intended for full disassembly and reuse. All materials are tracked with the Madaster system, supporting a cradle-to-cradle lifecycle. Interactive exhibits engage visitors in the Dutch approach to water and advocate for a globally sustainable “Edonomy” model.
