Abstract
The first type catalogue of the Mammal Collection of the Hungarian NaturalHistory Museum was published in 1991. Since then, over the past three decades primarily dueto intensive research on steppic rodents and Paleotropical bats, the number of represented taxaand type specimens has increased from 32 to 69 and from 116 to 216, respectively. The newlyadded types are predominantly from the families Rhinolophidae, Hipposideridae, andVespertilionidae within the order Chiroptera, and from the families Sminthidae and Spalacidaewithin the order Rodentia, reflecting the main research focuses of the collection and its staff.Additionally, single type specimens from the families Equidae (Perissodactyla) and Echimyidae(Rodentia) are also presented.
