Abstract

A tanulmány célja, hogy feltérképezze a narratíva fogalmának különböző diszciplináris értelmezéseit, és bemutassa a transzdiszciplináris megközelítésben rejlő lehetőségeket. A szerzők abból indulnak ki, hogy bár a narratív fordulat az elmúlt évtizedekben több tudományágban – például az irodalomtudományban, a történettudományban, a szociológiában, a pszichológiában és a jogtudományban – is hangsúlyosan megjelent, a diszciplináris határok közötti valós párbeszéd gyakran elmarad. A tanulmány célja továbbá, hogy rámutasson a különböző területek narratíva-fogalmának közös vonásaira, valamint arra, hogy ezek együttes, interakcióalapú vizsgálata hogyan segítheti az összetett társadalmi és egyéni tapasztalatok mélyebb megértését. A szerzők a narratív interjú módszertanára – különösen Schütze és Rosenthal munkásságára – támaszkodva egy házaspár, Andrea és Kálmán párhuzamos élettörténeti elbeszélésének egy részletét elemzik. A vizsgálat középpontjában a demokráciához, a joghoz és a mássághoz való viszony áll, miközben a szereplők egyéni tapasztalatai és családtörténeti háttere (zsidó származás, vallási elkötelezettség, kivándorlás, apartheid) komplex kontextusban jelenik meg. Az elemzés rámutat, hogy az élettörténetek nemcsak visszatükrözik a társadalmi és történeti folyamatokat, hanem újra is értelmezik azokat – sokszor nem tudatos módon. A tanulmány végkövetkeztetése szerint a transzdiszciplináris narratívaelemzés nemcsak mélyebb megértést tesz lehetővé, hanem hozzájárulhat a társadalomtudományos kutatások önreflexív és kritikai újragondolásához is. | This study explores the diverse disciplinary interpretations of the concept of narrative and investigates the potential of a transdisciplinary approach. The authors argue that although the so-called "narrative turn" has gained prominence across a wide range of academic fields – including literary theory, history, sociology, psychology, and law – genuine interdisciplinary dialogue often remains lacking. By comparing disciplinary approaches, the paper highlights shared conceptual tools and analytical frameworks that could enable a more integrated understanding of complex individual and social experiences. Relying on the narrative interview technique developed by Fritz Schütze and the hermeneutic analysis method of Gabriele Rosenthal, the authors analyze selected excerpts from life-history interviews conducted with a married couple, Andrea and Kálmán. Their narratives focus on personal experiences of democracy, legal consciousness, and interethnic relations, embedded in broader historical and cultural contexts – including Jewish heritage, religious identity, family history during the Holocaust, emigration, and experiences in post-apartheid South Africa. The analysis reveals the layered and sometimes contradictory ways in which personal identities and social values are narrated and reinterpreted through life stories. The authors argue that narratives should not be viewed solely as research data, but also as co-constructed expressions of meaning and identity, shaped by both the storyteller and the researcher. The life stories presented here demonstrate how narrative not only reflects the world but also actively constructs and challenges social realities. Ultimately, the article promotes a transdisciplinary narrative analysis that combines sociological, historical, psychological, and legal insights to achieve a deeper understanding of lived experiences. This approach encourages critical self-reflection within social science research and challenges the boundaries that traditionally separate disciplines, advocating instead for a more holistic and collaborative mode of knowledge production.
