Abstract

A tanulmány a kubai forradalom győzelmét követő egy évtizedben, vagyis az 1959 és 1969 közötti időszakban vizsgálja Magyarország és a latin-amerikai államok kapcsolatának alakulását. A kubai forradalom új irányt és ritmust hozott a kapcsolatok alakításában azzal, hogy a Szovjetunió politikai érdeklődését felkeltette a szigetország iránt, és ez maga után vonta Magyarország figyelmét is, ami végül a diplomáciai és kereskedelmi kapcsolatok gyors fejlesztésében mutatkozott meg. Buenos Aires után Havannában nyílt meg a második magyar követség Latin-Amerikában és a térségre vonatkozó diplomáciai és külpolitikai lépések szempontjából talán a legjelentősebb misszióvá nőtte ki magát. Ugyanakkor a magyar–kubai kapcsolatok korántsem voltak olyan felhőtlenek, mint ahogy azt a korabeli magyar társadalom ismerte. A jelentős dél-amerikai országokat illetően is sikereket könyvelhetett el Magyarország, hiszen például Brazíliával és Chilével is ebben az évtizedben jöttek létre a diplomáciai kapcsolatok. Ugyanakkor az Amerikai Egyesült Államok politikai és gazdasági nyomása erőteljesen éreztette hatását a kapcsolatok alakításának lehetőségeiben. | The study examines the development of relations between Hungary and Latin American states in the decade following the victory of the Cuban Revolution, i.e. between 1959 and 1969. The Cuban Revolution brought a new direction and rhythm to the development of relations by arousing the political interest of the Soviet Union in the island country, which in turn attracted the attention of Hungary, which ultimately resulted in the rapid development of diplomatic and trade relations. After Buenos Aires, the second Hungarian embassy in Latin America was opened in Havana, and it grew into perhaps the most significant mission in terms of diplomatic and foreign policy steps in the region. At the same time, HungarianCuban relations were by no means as cloudless as Hungarian society at the time believed. Hungary also had successes with important South American countries, as economic relations were established in this decade with Brazil and Chile, for example. At the same time, the political and economic pressure of the United States of America had a strong impact on the possibilities of shaping relations.
