Abstract

Néhány éve muskátli pusztulását figyeltük meg egy hazai dísznövény-kertészetben. A tünetek talajlakó patogén jelenlétére utaltak. Célunk a lehetséges kórokozó azonosítása volt. A beteg növényekből egyedül a Phytopythium helicoides fajt izoláltuk, amely a világ egyes részein jól ismert üvegházi patogén dísznövényeken, de tudomásunk szerint muskátliról még nem jelentették. Mesterséges fertőzési kísérleteinkben megbetegítette a kerti muskátli szárdugványokat. Ez az első adat a Phytopythium helicoides hazai előfordulásáról. | A few years ago, dying plants of Pelargonium × hortorum and P. peltatum were observed in a horticultural farm producing ornamentals in Hungary. Disease symptoms suggested the presence of a soil-borne plant pathogen. Our aim was to identify the causal agent. Phytopythium helicoides was the only microorganism isolated from diseased stems of the affected geranium plants. This oomycete is already known as a plant pathogen of ornamentals in greenhouses in certain parts of the world but, according to our knowledge, it has not been reported from geranium elsewhere. In artificial inoculation experiments, our isolate of P. helicoides was pathogenic on stem cuttings of P. × hortorum. This is the first report of P. helicoides in Hungary.
