Abstract
MUHARRAQ, BAHRAIN; ARCHITECTS: Christian Kerez, Anne Holtrop and Valerio Olgiati Bahrain’s Pearling Path, a 3.5 km UNESCO World Heritage site, is now complete after 13 years of development. Linking oyster beds to Muharraq, it highlights pearling history from Roman times to the early 20th century. The project combines modern architecture with historic sites, including merchant homes and public squares, and was managed by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. Winner of the Aga Khan Award, Pearling Path is celebrated for preserving a lost cultural tradition.
