Abstract

Emmanuel Macron elnökké választása idején remény mutatkozott a francia–algériai kapcsolatok normalizálódására, azonban már az első években egyértelművévált, hogy a gyarmati múlt terhei és a történelmi sebek továbbra is jelentősen meghatározzák a két ország közötti viszonyt. A francia elnök az általa kezdett új Afrika-politikának megfelelően Algírral is igyekezett megerősíteni a diplomáciai kapcsolatokat, de a politikai akadályok, valamint a mélyen gyökerező múltbeli sérelmek nem tették lehetővéa tartós megbékélést. A geopolitikai változások, illetve a nagyhatalmak növekvő afrikaibefolyása ellenére Franciaország és Algéria gazdasága és kereskedelme továbbra is erőteljesen összefonódik. A jövőben a gazdasági és a diplomáciai érdekek fogják dominálnia felek kétoldalú kapcsolatait, de a történelmi örökség változatlanul befolyásolja majd apolitikai párbeszédet, a kölcsönös tiszteleten alapuló partnerség pedig még mindig távolicélként jelenik meg. | When Emmanuel Macron was elected, there was hope for the normalization of French–Algerian relations. However, in the early years of his presidency, it became clear that the burdens of the colonial past and historical grievances continue to significantly shape the relationship between the two countries. In line with his new Africa policy, the French president sought to strengthen diplomatic ties, but political obstacles and deeply rooted past resentments hindered the possibility of lasting reconciliation. Despite the geopolitical changes and the growing influence of great powers in Africa, the ties between the two countries remain inseparable. France and Algeria’s economic and trade relations are still strongly intertwined. In the future, economic and diplomatic interests will dominate the bilateral relationship, but historical grievances will influence the political dialogue, and the hope for a partnership based on mutual respect remain a distant goal.
