Abstract

Bevezetés Egy szakmai díj az egyéni teljesítmény elismerésén túl a diszciplína identitásának is mértéke: a díj és rendszeres kiadása az adott szakterület létezését, folyamatos aktivitását és fontosságát hirdeti. Egy díj és a hozzátartozó szimbólum – érem, plakett, oklevél, előadás – a terület önállóságának gondolati és fizikális megtestesítője. A díjak és díjazottak sora a szakmatörténet fontos eleme. A tanulmány célja az elmúlt kilenc évtized magyar neurológiai díjainak áttekintése.Módszerek A Magyar Neurológiai Társaság – korábban Magyar Ideg- és Elmeorvosok Társasága, MIET – ernyőszervezetként több neurológiai részterület önálló szakmai társaságait is összefogja. A létező díjakat és a díjazottakat ezen társaságok képviselőivel folytatott megbeszélésekkel, a társasági és klinikai internetes honlapok felkeresésével, az elérhető társasági dokumentumok áttekintésével, éremművészekkel, numizmatikusokkal, a Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum, a Semmelweis Orvostörténeti Múzeum, a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria és a szegedi Móra Ferenc Múzeum főmuzeológusaival, a Semmelweis Egyetem levéltárának és irattárának vezetőivel, valamint tapasztalt, a neurológiai szakmai közéletben jelenleg vagy korábban aktív kollégákkal folytatott megbeszélésekkel igyekeztem azonosítani. Eredmények Tizenhat díj kapcsolódik a magyar neurológiához: a Schaffer Károly-emlékérem (1936-tól), a Sántha Kálmán-emlékérem (1981-től), a Lissák Kálmán-díj (1983-tól), a Miskolczy Dezső-díj (1994-től), a 35 év alatti kutatóknak adható Környey-emlékérem (1995-től), a Jelencsik Ilona-emlékérem (2004-től), a Környey Emlékfa (2005-től), a Dr. Schaffer Károly Emlékalapítvány díja fiatal neurológusoknak és pszichiátereknek (2007-től), a Miskolczy Dezső Memorial Award Lecture (2012-től), a George Karpati-díj (2013-tól), a Nagy Aladár-díj (2015-től), a Pásztor Emil-díj (2016-tól), a Csanda Endre-emléklap (2017-től) és a Baló József-emlékelőadás (2018-tól). Az Ideggyógyászati Szemle 2000-től díjazza az év legjobb eredeti közleményét, és 2024-től az év legjobb, fiatal (35 év alatti) első szerzős magyar nyelvű közleményét. Az elmúlt kilenc évtized során (1936–2025 között) több mint kétszáz személynek és 26 közleménynek ítéltek oda díjat a grémiumok. Következtetés A neurológiai szakterületek által évtizedek óta adott díjak tükrözik szakmánk sokrétűségét, jelenlegi és jövőbeli létjogosultságát. | Introduction – A professional award, in addition to recognizing individual achievement, is also a measure of the identity of the discipline: the award and its regular issuance proclaim the existence, continuous activity and importance of the given field. An award and the associated symbol – medal, plaque, diploma, lecture – are the intellectual and physical embodiments of the independence of the field. The list of awards and awardees is an important element of the history of the profession. The purpose of this study is to review the awards of Hungarian neurology of the past 9 decades. Methods – The Hungarian Neurological Society – formerly the Hungarian Society of Neurologists and Psychiatrists, MIET – is also an umbrella organization that brings together independent professional societies in several neurological subfields. I tried to identify existing awards and awardees through discussions with representatives of these societies, visiting the society and clinical websites, reviewing available society documents, consulting with medal artists, numismatists, chief museologists of the Hungarian National Museum, the Semmelweis Museum of Medical History, the Hungarian National Gallery and the Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged, with the heads of the archives and records of Semmelweis University, and with experienced colleagues who are currently or were previously active in the professional life of neurology. Results – 16 awards are related to Hungarian neurology: the Schaffer Károly Memorial Medal (1936-), the Sántha Kálmán Memorial Medal (1981-), the Lissák Kálmán Award (1983-), the Miskolczy Dezső Award (1994-), the Környey Memorial Medal awarded to researchers under the age of 35 (1995-), the Jelencsik Ilona Memorial Medal (2004-), the Környey Memorial Tree (2005-), the Dr. Schaffer Károly Memorial Foundation Award for young neurologists and psychiatrists (2007-), the Miskolczy Dezső Memorial Award Lecture (2012-), the George Karpati Award (2013-), the Nagy Aladár Award (2015-), the Pásztor Emil Award (2016-), the Csanda Endre Memorial Diploma (2017-) and the József Baló Memorial Lecture (2018-). The journal Clinical Neuroscience/Ideggyógyászati Szemle awards the best original publication of the year since 2000 and from 2024 onwards the best Hungarian-language publication of the year written by a young (under 35 years of age) first author. Over the past 9 decades (between 1936-2025), more than two hundred persons and 26 publications have been awarded by the committees. Conclusion – The awards given by neurological specialties for decades reflect the diversity of our profession, its current and future raison d’être.
