Abstract

A tanulmány azzal a problémafelvetéssel kezdődik, hogy tulajdonképpen hol helyezzük el az 1944-es év eseményeit a második világháború nagy történetében. Tekinthető-e az eddigiek helyett – illetve mellett – „döntő évnek”? A válasz megalapozásához a szerző leíró módon ismerteti a második világháború utolsó évének fejleményeit, végigvezetve az olvasót az európai és az ázsiai–csendes-óceáni hadszíntér változásain, döntő hadműveleteken és összecsapásokon. A konfliktussorozat folyamán azonban olyan jelenségek is előfordultak, amelyek nem illeszkednek a klasszikus, „szimmetrikus” hadviselés kategóriájába; vagyis nem csak arról volt szó, hogy államok egy koalíciója vív háborút egy másik, szintén államok alkotta szövetségi rendszer ellen. A tanulmány a polgárháborús jelenség vizsgálatán keresztül a nagyhatalmi-kisállami viszonyokat is górcső alá veszi. Végül az egyes kisebb hadviselő országok esetében elemzi, hogy fennáltak-e a sikeres átállás, illetve kiugrás feltételei. | The paper begins with the problem of where to place the events of 1944 in the great history of the Second World War. Can it be considered a ‚decisive year’ instead of – or in addition to – the previous ones? To answer this question, the author continues with a descriptive section in which he details the developments of the final year of the Second World War, taking the reader through the changes, decisive operations, and clashes in both the European and the Asia-Pacific theatres of operations. However, the conflicts also involved phenomena that did not fit into the classic ‚symmetrical’ warfare category, i.e. it was not just a case of a coalition of states waging war against another alliance of states. The author traces the phenomena of civil war, along the lines of which he also examines the relations between great powers and small states. Finally, he analyses the presence or absence of conditions for a successful transition or exit in the case of each of the smaller belligerent states.
