Abstract

Aim: The sports policing register, which is a decisive tool for the security of the sports events, has a decade-long history. The author took into account the experiences of the last ten years, supplemented with the most current aspects. To demonstrate how the creation of a sports policing register can clearly considered a legal and police innovation, and how it is evolving and renewing itself with the development of digitalization and technology, as well as the analysis and use of the ever-increasing amount of data available, thereby contributing to the safe conduct of sports events on an ever-wider scale.Methodology: The paper is based on legislation, internal regulations, archival material and publications on sports law and professional material. Authors also collected and analysed the data set of the sport policing register from its introduction period to most recent period.Findings: The writing of this article was prompted by the fact that sports policing records have a decade-long history, which is a decisive tool for the security of sports events. Today, safety is one of the most important factors that can make our everyday life and leisure time meaningful and of appropriate quality. Ensuring security is already an important factor in organising international events today, but will become even more important in the future.Value: Many conclusions can be drawn from the statistics of the last 10 years operation of the sports policing register, but the most important of them is that there is a clear improvement in the safety of sporting events. This study presents in more detail than ever before the theoretical background and practical application of the registry, and uniquely analyses the data collected since its creation.
