Abstract

A második világháború után a régió szinte feudális életmódját a kommunista ideológia által meghatározott útra kényszerítették. A hagyományok folytonossága megszakadt, és a ház vette át a föld szerepét, amelyet generációról generációra lehetett örökíteni. Gondolatkísérletünkben a magyar népi kultúrát a hivatalos etnográfia paradigmájától eltérő módon, mintegy azzal ellentétben állva ragadjuk meg. Feltételezésünk szerint a kapart kőporral díszített magyar kocka ház egyszerre volt a klasszikus folklór és a helyi modernitás utolsó nagy korszakának kulcsépülete. Ezt a kettősséget a „gulyásmodern” kifejezéssel illusztráltuk. | After World War II, the almost feudal way of life of the region was forced to follow a path determined by communist ideology. The continuity of tradition was broken, and the house took over the role of land that could be passed down from generation to generation. In our thought experiment, we conceptualise Hungarian folk culture in a way that differs from the paradigm of official ethnography, as if standing in opposition to it. According to our assumption, the Hungarian cube house decorated with scraped stone dust ornamentation was simultaneously the key building of the last great era of classical folklore and local modernity. We coined the term goulash modern to describe this duality.
