Abstract

A középkori exemplum mint retorikai eszköz Európa-szerte fontos szerepet töltött be a prózai műfajok kialakulásában. Felgyorsította bizonyos klasszikus műfajok, az aesopusi fabulák, a keleti tanmesék, a pajzán históriák és a legendák átalakulást, és előmozdította a novella műfajának előtérbe kerülését. Az Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetemen készült Régi Magyar Exemplum- adatbázis, és az annak alapján összeállított Régi magyar exemplum repertóriuma első ízben vállalkozott arra, hogy a teljes reformáció előtti magyar nyelvű exemplumanyagot összegyűjtse és közölje. A repertórium több mint négyszáz történet modernizált szövegű átírását és teljes körű elemzését tartalmazza. Ezzel a 15–16. században fellendülő magyar nyelvű írásbeliség egy korábban kiaknázatlan forráscsoportja válik hozzáférhetővé, melynek köszönhetően vizsgálhatóvá válnak a reformáció utáni magyar nyelvű korpusz középkori gyökerei is. Haszonnal forgatható irodalomtörténeti, történeti, néprajzi és vallástörténeti kutatók számára, de a modernizált szövegközlésnek köszönhetőn ennél szélesebb olvasóközönségre is számot tarthat. | The medieval exemplum, as a rhetorical device, played a significant role in the development of prose genres across Europe. It accelerated the transformation of several classical forms, such as Aesopic fables, Eastern parables, ribald stories, and saints’ legends, and contributed to the emergence of the novella as a dominant genre. The Database of Old Hungarian Exemplum, compiled at Eötvös Loránd University, and the Repertory of Old Hungarian Exemplum, based on it, are the first to gather and publish the entire corpus of pre-Reformation Hungarian‑language exempla. The repertory contains modernized transcriptions and comprehensive analyses of more than four hundred stories. As a result, an important but previously underutilized source group of fifteenth- and sixteenth- century Hungarian written culture becomes accessible, while also shedding light on the medieval roots of the post-Reformation Hungarian textual tradition. It is a useful resource for researchers in literary history, history, ethnography, and religious studies, and thanks to the modernized texts of the stories, it can also appeal to a wider audience.
