Abstract
Atelier Apeiron's 4,500-square-metre Museum Forest Kindergarten in Shenzhen, China, as a high-density urban design case study. Faced with strict site constraints, the project utilizes vertical organization, stacking 15 classrooms across three levels along four nonrectilinear axes to optimize climate, light, and airflow. The layout features underdefined environments that avoid clichés to promote imaginative, self-directed play. Unlike low-rise, pavilion-style Hungarian designs with direct nature access, this vertical structure relies on rooftop gardens and borrowed landscapes. Ultimately, it serves as a comparative mirror for European architects evaluating local constraints within a global urban context.
