Abstract
Hydrogen is a clean and versatile energy carrier with significant potential for supporting a carbon-neutral future. Blending hydrogen with natural gas may improve energy performance, but it also introduces challenges - particularly the risk of altered gas hydrate formation. Hydrate plugs can severely impact pipeline operations, making it vital to understand how hydrogen affects hydrate behavior. This study presents original laboratory results using a custom-designed apparatus that simulates hydrogen-natural gas mixtures under realistic pressure and temperature conditions. The system ensures precise control of hydrate formation, and the findings provide valuable insights to support the safe and efficient integration of hydrogen into existing gas infrastructure.
