Abstract
The study presents the 1944–45 protection operation of Budapest’s Jewish population, in which neutral diplomats such as Wallenberg, Lutz, Rotta and Born played key roles. It demonstrates that the rescue efforts resulted not from isolated heroism but from a coordinated form of international humanitarian diplomacy. The article reveals the complex diplomatic, administrative and relief mechanisms that enabled the saving of tens of thousands of lives.
